    Programme Content

Based on design thinking, the class guided Primary 4 students to build outdoor play facilities tailored for Primary 6 students in the school green spaces. This encourages students to step out of the classroom and go outdoors, enhancing their connection and interaction with nature and the real world.

Before designing the play facilities, Primary 4 students worked in groups to interview Primary 6 peers, identifying their preferences and pain points. With the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI), it helped to create the “persona,” which consolidated data from the interviewee. Students then explored the school’s outdoor spaces for suitable installation sites. During the ideation phase, they used AI to integrate team members’ ideas and transformed their initial sketches into more concrete visual renderings.

Before hands-on fabrication, students learned basic woodworking skills and safety guidelines. Guided by their AI-generated concept renderings, students started building the play facilities using materials such as recycled wood and discarded tyres. Throughout the making process, students conducted multiple tests to explore the properties of different materials and creatively apply them in diverse ways. Additionally, teams cross-tested each other’s prototypes to provide constructive feedback, further optimizing their designs.

At the end of the course, each group shared their creative journey and installation with parents and the Primary 6 students previously interviewed, inviting them to test the facilities and share feedback to reflect on and deepen their learning.
