This year, PMQ Seed “Creative Summer Festival” focuses on the theme “Kids in Action”, transforming PMQ into a vibrant space during the festival. In collaboration with Milk Design (HK) and Stickyline, we publicly recruited over 300 pre-P4 to P6 students as “Power Buddies”, among them over 40 school-based teams. In July, the curatorial team led the children to design a series of workshops and games during the 10-day “Pre-Festival Workshop”, focusing on key themes ‘Reduce’, ‘Recycle’, and ‘Reuse’, hoping to inspire participants with creative ideas and methods for plastic reduction, and encouraging everyone to make a positive impact on the environment.
“Creative Summer Festival” kicked off on August 10th and ran for nine days. This year, we have an exciting lineup of 15 activities and games. The highlight is a giant seven-meter-long octopus installation, made from over 200 recycled plastic bags collected from local laundry shops. We hope that participants can reflect on the habit of using and handling plastics creatively. Our power buddies become “Research Ambassadors”, leading games and workshops in “Kids in Action Workshop”. They shared creative ideas for reducing plastic usage and taught about plastic reduction in a fun way! Additionally, there are a series of experience class and creative activity to connect people of all ages, to address plastic issue with creativity, and building a brighter future for our planet.
