Our programme for P3-P4 kids take the form of a competitive reality show, featuring the elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth as symbols for our planet’s resources. Throughout the 20-hour programme, participants work in teams of six to tackle a series of global resource issues, and learn about self-expression, effective communication, teamwork, and strategic thinking via gameplay. Each session features different games and challenges, such as science experiments, simple architectural construction, and exciting 1:1 3D tabletop games, all of which facilitate skill development in the areas of collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity. Each challenge is followed by 20-30 minutes of instructor-guided group reflection. Which team will be the first to combine individual powers and discover the ultimate remedy for our injured planet? We can’t wait to find out!
The teaching team led by Littleurbanmountain is comprised of multi-disciplinary local creatives, including architects, designers, makers/craftsmen and drama educators. The team will guide students in experiencing the process of design thinking through the creative workshop.
Littleurbanmountain is a collaborative platform that focuses on architecture, interior design and art in Hong Kong. Founded by architect Bong Yeung and theatre artist Lai Sim Fong in 2017, Littleurbanmountain is keen on exploring the relationship between architecture and human condition. Started by working on projects related to sustainable design and social architecture, the team now also creates art installations and participates in community, architectural and interior design projects.
In the programme themed ‘Let’s Play Together!’, participants are tasked with creating a game event with a shared goal. Then, through a series of interactive activities and guided to co-design a collaborative game for multiple players, participants learn to cooperate with peers and understand and experience the spirit of cooperation. The design thinking-backed process requires participants to see things from a player’s perspective. It encourages them to develop empathy, communication, problem-solving, coordination, and collaboration skills—all while sharing the delight of Playing Together.
• Inspiration:
Participants learn about the elements of collaborative games and work to communicate and collaborate with team members, while recognising differences between the self and others.
• Ideation:
Having determined a shared goal, participants design a game event that requires high levels of collaborative effort.
• Implementation:
Participants work together to solve problems throughout the process of realising their ideas, and celebrate the co-created outcomes. They are guided to reflect on the importance of collaboration.
Combining a group of cross-disciplinary creatives including product designers, software engineers, and athletics coaches, the team hopes to guide students to experience the process of design thinking.
